DIAMOND Future Box in Practice: Application Examples and Installation
The DIAMOND Future Box is a sliding 1U/2U splice box for service-oriented rack installations. Three form factors — 1U Standard, 1U Compact with 45° cable exit, 2U High-Capacity up to 48 E-2000 ports — cover light to high-capacity scenarios.
Practical Applications
- FTTH headends: Service-friendly, staged expansion over years
- Data centre distribution racks: Regular configuration changes
- Carrier backbones: Serviceability, documentation-required regulation
- Industrial plants with service intervals: Quarterly inspection, annual measurement
What Matters in Practical Deployment
The Future Box locks in two positions — operating and service. When extended, splices, pigtails and patches can be inspected without disconnecting other cabling. The rails carry the full weight even of the fully populated 2U variant; single-hand operation is possible.
Important on installation: check rack depth before ordering. The 2U High-Capacity variant needs slightly more depth than the 1U form factors. For shallow racks the 1U Compact with 45° cable exit is the right choice.
Connector System
All variants use DIAMOND E-2000® CompactRJ couplings with Active Core Alignment (ACA) — typical insertion loss ≤ 0.1 dB. Singlemode APC (green), Singlemode PC (blue), Multimode (OM3/OM4/62.5 μm). IP65 variant on request.
Available Through Fiber Products
Since the DIAMOND press release of 27.04.2026 Fiber Products is the central supplier for DIAMOND’s 19″ enclosure technology. All three Future Box variants available directly — plus F4P own-manufacturing with custom configurations and 5-year warranty.
