DIAMOND Future Box — Sliding Splice Boxes 1U & 2U

Lockable, sliding splice boxes designed for service-oriented rack installations. Three form factors cover light to high-capacity scenarios, all built around the DIAMOND E-2000® CompactRJ connector system. The Future Box is the right choice when you expect regular maintenance, splicing reorganisation or staged expansion over the lifetime of the installation.

What Sets the Future Box Apart

Where the rigid Fusion Box is built for set-and-forget installations, the Future Box opens up. The chassis slides out of the rack on rails for full access to splices, pigtails and patches — without disconnecting cabling or removing neighbouring equipment. It locks in both operating and service positions.

This makes the Future Box the standard choice for installations where:

  • Service intervals are regular (quarterly inspection, annual measurement)
  • Configuration changes happen over the lifecycle (port reassignment, fibre additions)
  • Documentation requires accessible splice trays (regulated industries)
  • Staged expansion is planned (start with partial fit-out, expand later)

The Three Variants

Variant Format Capacity Typical Use
1U Standard Rack 1U, sliding Up to 24 E-2000 ports Standard distribution rack, regular maintenance
1U Compact Rack 1U, sliding, 45° cable exit Up to 24 E-2000 ports Shallow racks, cable management constraints
2U High-Capacity Rack 2U, sliding Up to 48 E-2000 ports High-density installations, consolidated infrastructure

All variants use the same E-2000® CompactRJ system, share the same lockable sliding mechanism and accept partial fit-out for staged rollouts.

Connector System: E-2000® CompactRJ

The Future Box is populated with DIAMOND E-2000® CompactRJ couplings in the chosen connector geometry. Standard configurations include:

  • Singlemode APC (green) — recommended for FTTH backbones and access networks where return loss matters
  • Singlemode PC (blue) — for legacy infrastructure migration
  • Multimode (OM3, OM4, 62.5 μm) — for in-building and campus networks

Active Core Alignment (ACA) technology delivers typical insertion loss ≤ 0.1 dB per coupling. IP65-protected variants are available on request for outdoor cabinet installations.

Quality Assurance

Every Future Box is delivered with individual pigtail measurement — not sample inspection. Each pigtail’s test certificate documents end-face quality, tilt angle (≤ 0.4°), concentricity (≤ 0.25 μm) and final inspection mark, accessible via QR code or shop.diamond.de.

This per-pigtail documentation is mandatory for many tenders in regulated industries (railway, energy, healthcare, telecommunications) and a competitive differentiator in commercial installations.

Available Through Fiber Products

Following the DIAMOND press release of 27 April 2026, Fiber Products GmbH is the central supplier for the DIAMOND 19″ enclosure technology, including the Future Box. DIAMOND continues to manufacture all connector components in Losone; Fiber Products handles DACH supply, configuration and F4P-built custom solutions.

How to Choose Future Box vs Fusion Box

A short selection guide:

  • Future Box — when you expect maintenance, expansion or reconfiguration during the rack’s lifetime
  • Fusion Box — when the installation is set-and-forget, the rack is full, and access requirements are minimal (see Fusion Box)

The price differential reflects the additional mechanism. Most professional FTTH and data-centre installations choose Future Box as the safe default, with Fusion Box reserved for high-density edge cases.
