DIAMOND Fusion Box — Rigid 1U Splice Boxes
Permanently rack-mounted 1U splice boxes for fixed installations. Nine variants combining E-2000® Simplex (SX) and CompactRJ (Duplex) options, with or without factory-terminated pigtails. The Fusion Box is the right choice when the installation is set-and-forget and maximum port density matters more than service access.
What Sets the Fusion Box Apart
The Fusion Box sits rigidly in the rack — no sliding mechanism, no movable parts. That makes it lighter, less expensive and more space-efficient than the sliding Future Box. It pays off in environments where:
- Installation is permanent — set and not touched for years
- Rack density is critical — every U counts
- Splicing is done off-site — pigtails arrive pre-terminated and tested
- Budget pressure rules out the Future Box’s sliding mechanism
The Nine Variants
Fusion Box variants combine three connector options with three pigtail-termination states, giving nine configurations:
| Connector | Description | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|
| E-2000® SX (Simplex) | One coupling per slot, single-fibre | Standard FTTH, telecom backbones |
| E-2000® CompactRJ (Duplex) | Two couplings per slot, duplex pairs | Data centre patching, high-density |
| Mixed configurations | Combination of SX and CompactRJ in one chassis | Mixed-purpose distribution racks |
Each connector option is available in three states: empty (couplings only, customer pre-terminates), partially populated (some pigtails factory-terminated), or fully populated (all pigtails factory-terminated, ready to splice on incoming fibres).

Connector System: E-2000® Standard
All Fusion Box variants use DIAMOND E-2000® couplings in standard colour-coded geometry:
- Singlemode APC (green) — recommended default for FTTH and high-availability backbones
- Singlemode PC (blue) — for legacy infrastructure
- Multimode (OM3, OM4, 62.5 μm) — for campus and in-building networks
Active Core Alignment (ACA) technology delivers typical insertion loss ≤ 0.1 dB. The push-pull latch with spring-loaded shutter prevents end-face contamination — critical in dust-prone environments.
Factory-Terminated Pigtails
When ordered with factory-terminated pigtails, each fibre arrives ready to splice on the incoming cable side. The factory side is pre-mated to the E-2000® coupling, measured, and the test certificate is available via QR code on the unit.
This pre-termination approach is the typical workflow for high-volume installations: the installer’s onsite work reduces to splice-only — no field connectorisation, no field polishing, no field measurement.
Quality Assurance
Every Fusion Box ships with individual pigtail measurement — not sample inspection. Per-pigtail documentation includes end-face quality, tilt angle (≤ 0.4°), concentricity (≤ 0.25 μm) and final inspection mark. Certificates accessible via QR code or shop.diamond.de.

How to Choose Fusion Box vs Future Box
- Choose Fusion Box when the installation will not be reconfigured during the lifecycle and density matters
- Choose Future Box when you anticipate maintenance, splicing access or expansion
- Both use the same E-2000® system — components are intermateable, training is identical
