What Does a Fibre Splice Box Cost? 2026 Price Guide by Form Factor

Splice boxes cost anywhere from around €50 for a single front module to several thousand euros for a fully populated E-2000 system. What sits in between is not arbitrary — it follows a clear grid of form factor, fibre count, connector type and level of population. This article maps the cost by form factor, with verified net shop prices for the F4P ranges (as of 18 July 2026) and list prices for the DIAMOND systems built at the Swiss plant in Losone. All prices are net, exclusive of VAT.

The form factors in detail

F4P SB range: the complete 1U splice box

The SB range is a ready-to-use 19″ splice box, complete with couplings, pigtails and a splice tray. Examples from the shop: the Splice Box SB 6 (12) LC DX OM3 (art. no. 107000) at €81.90, the SB 12 (24) LC DX OM3 (art. no. 107061) at €129.00 and the SB 24 (24) LC DX OM3 (art. no. 107071) at €189.00. Where you need port density, the LC quad build is the answer: the SB 24 (24) LC QUAD OM3 (art. no. 107091) sits at €309.00. The E-2000 variants of the range start at €459.00 (SB 6, art. no. 107041); the SB 24 (24) E2000 DX-C OM4 (art. no. 107053) sits at €1,069.00, and the singlemode flagship SB 24 (24) E2000 DX-C OS2 APC (art. no. 107054) at €1,479.00.

7TE front modules and BGT carriers: the modular system

If you want to build capacity step by step, you combine unpopulated BGT carriers with 7TE front modules: the BGT 1U takes 3 modules, the BGT 3U takes 12. The Front Module FM 6LC DX 7TE (art. no. 147000) costs €51.45; the E-2000 versions run from €414.75 (FM 6E2000 DX-C, art. no. 147015) to €724.50 (FM 12E2000 DX-C, art. no. 147019). Worked example: a BGT 1U (€56.70) plus three FM 6LC DX modules (€51.45 each) comes to €211.05 net for 18 LC duplex ports — with the option to swap individual modules for other connector types later on.

DIAMOND Future-Box: slide-out and lockable

The Future-Box, from DIAMOND’s Swiss precision manufacture in Losone, is slide-out and lockable. It is populated with E-2000 couplings: 2.5 mm zirconia ferrule, typical insertion loss ≤ 0.1 dB, spring-loaded laser-protection shutter, standardised to IEC 61754-15. The list prices: 1U from €359 (3 × E-2000 Compact RJ) to €1,942 (24 × E-2000 Compact RJ); 2U from €2,002 (48 × E-2000 SX) to €3,754 (48 × E-2000 Compact RJ); the unpopulated 2U empty housing starts at €248.

DIAMOND Fusion-Box: fixed installation

The Fusion-Box is the rigid variant for fixed installation, available in 9 variants. List prices 1U: from €452 (12 × E-2000 Compact RJ without pigtails) through €1,016 splice-ready to €1,659 (24 × E-2000 Compact RJ); in 2U, the build with 48 × E-2000 Compact RJ costs €3,704. We calculate both DIAMOND form factors on a project basis — send an enquiry.

What drives the price: the four factors

1. Population: empty vs. splice-ready

The single biggest line item is factory population with couplings and pigtails. Example from the DIAMOND range: the Fusion-Box 1U with 12 × E-2000 Compact RJ costs €452 list price without pigtails, and €1,016 fully splice-ready — a difference of €564 that reflects the material and assembly work you no longer carry out on site.

2. Connector type: LC/SC as the standard, E-2000 as the premium step

LC and SC builds are the cost-efficient standard. E-2000 with its spring-loaded laser-protection shutter costs considerably more: the SB 24 (24) LC DX OS2 APC sits at €189.00, while the same form factor as an E-2000 variant comes to €1,069.00 — more than five times as much. With the front modules the gap is similar: €51.45 for 6 × LC duplex against €414.75 for 6 × E-2000 DX-C.

3. Fibre count: price per port falls as size rises

Within the SB range, the price climbs far more gently than the capacity: SB 6 at €81.90, SB 12 at €129.00, SB 18 at €159.00, SB 24 at €189.00. The price per LC duplex port thus falls from €13.65 to €7.88 — plan in spare capacity and you buy more cheaply per port.

4. Housing quality and mechanics

Fibre type and mechanics leave their mark too: within the SB range, OM5 carries a modest surcharge (SB 12 (24) LC DX: €139.00 as OM5 against €129.00 as OM4). The bigger step is from the fixed sheet-steel box to the slide-out, lockable system mechanics of the DIAMOND Future-Box — the slide-out design and locking then cut installation and maintenance time across the service life.

Buyer’s guide: which box for 12, 24, 48 or 96 fibres?

  • 12 fibres: Splice Box SB 6 (12) LC DX with 6 × LC duplex, from €81.90 net.
  • 24 fibres: Splice Box SB 12 (24) LC DX with 12 × LC duplex, from €129.00 net.
  • 48 fibres: Splice Box SB 24 (24) LC DX with 24 × LC duplex, from €189.00 net; where E-2000 is specified, the DIAMOND Future-Box 2U 48 × E-2000 SX (list price €2,002) — enquire.
  • 96 fibres: modular with the BGT 3U (€110.25) and 8 FM 6LC DX front modules (€51.45 each) for €521.85 net — leaving 4 free slots as a reserve; alternatively the DIAMOND Fusion-Box 2U with 48 × E-2000 Compact RJ for 96 fibres (list price €3,704) — enquire.
